ASR has conducted a number of surveys for VAGO and these generate data for use in their performance audits. Recent studies include:

  • Victorian state government schools (K-12) – how DEECD supports schools to manage student risks. (2010).
  • Victorian state government schools (K-12) – how schools manage staff work health and safety risks as well as the role of health and safety representatives (2012).
  • Office for Community Sector – how the Strengthening Community Organisations Plan was developed and implemented and how well it achieved its objectives. (2013).
  • Victorian public hospitals – employees’ views within four hospital services about work health and safety culture.

All surveys were conducted online using ASR’s web survey software, SurveyManager and in several instances used complex logic. VAGO and/or relevant government agencies provided respondent lists. Paper questionnaire were also printed and distributed for some respondents who did not have internet access as part of their work.

In all instances, ASR provided VAGO with detailed analysis of findings. In some cases this included preparing interpretative reports and in other cases, complex statistical analysis. Pilot tests were conducted for all projects.
