Cyber Assessment Tools

The Department of Industry, Innovation and Science engaged ASR to build and host applications to deploy two cyber assessment tools that allows support of the performance of Australian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the critical area of Cyber Security.

The new cyber assessment tools are used by SMEs and Business Advisers to provide advice around the rapidly changing environment of cyber resilience, information security and cyber security maturity.

ASR developed both tools using our SurveyManager platform hosted securely in Australia.

• Tool 1 Online Diagnostic: SurveyManager presents a short plain language online cyber risk diagnostic that all business evaluation clients undertake prior to commencing a formal evaluation engagement. The output includes a traffic light report and a recommendation to either progress to a deeper engagement (Business Adviser Diagnostic ) or ‘keep a watching brief’ via recommended resources. This tool is now available to the public and a logon will not be required to complete.
• Tool 2 BA Diagnostic: A more comprehensive facilitated diagnostic tool developed in SurveyManager that is deployed by Business Advisers in their evaluation meeting with a client. This process is being considered for extension to other Entrepreneur Program services. The tool takes about 45 minutes to complete and will generates an automated report with recommended actions. A secure logon is be required for use of this tool.

Both tools are questionnaires built in SurveyManager that, once completed, provide the threat and maturity profiles for an organisation. This is achieved through an algorithm that scores responses for each question category. This results in both an overall maturity profile and threat profile score and suggested actions for a business to take depending on their profile.
